Doing Veterinary Work: Care, Conflict, and Compromise in Italian Livestock Farming
This symposium brings together veterinarians, social scientists, architects, and historians to explore how veterinary work is practiced, regulated, and contested in contemporary livestock farming.
Through perspectives ranging from animal welfare and digital governance to architectural histories and ethical reflection, the event examines how veterinarians navigate competing demands of care, regulation, and sustainability across diverse farming contexts.
Organized by Luciano Ferrari (University of Amsterdam, ERC project "VetValues") and Sofia Nannini (Politecnico di Torino, ERC project "AnimalFarm")
