Call for contributions | FORTMED international conference 2027
FORTMED is the International Conference dedicated to the study, analysis, and dissemination of Mediterranean fortifications, as well as those developed in overseas territories (Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, Panama, Peru...), resulting from the spread of construction models, defensive strategies, and technical knowledge.
The main objective of FORTMED is to promote the exchange of current research and to encourage the sharing of results in order to contribute to a better understanding, valorization, conservation, management, and sustainable use of fortified Cultural Heritage. In this context, the dissemination of results is a fundamental tool.
The conference has an interdisciplinary nature, bringing together architects, building engineers, engineers, archaeologists, historians, geographers, geologists, cartographers, experts in design, restoration and architectural history, cultural heritage tourism and communication specialists, and heritage managers. The aim is to foster the development of a collaborative, integrated, and up-to-date vision that advances research on this topic to the highest level.
In 2027, on the occasion of its 10th edition, the Conference returns to Valencia, where it was first established in 2015 within the framework of the TOVIVA research project (HAR2013-41859-P).
The call for contributions is now open with the following deadlines:
01/06/2026 Deadline for abstract submission
03/09/2026 Deadline for paper submission
