The Horizon EU Culturality Project - International research and innovative teaching experiments for guidelines for the cultural and tourism development of rural areas

Excellent PhD Course within the PhD Programme in Patrimonio Architettonico / Architectural Heritage, Politecnico di Torino (Other PhD programmes involved: DASP, D&T, U&R)

This PhD course presents the research framework of the Horizon Europe CULTURALITY project (Cultural Heritage in Rural Remote Areas for Creative Tourism and Sustainability), focusing on interdisciplinary approaches to cultural heritage and tourism development in rural and peripheral areas.

The course explores how cultural and creative tourism can support sustainable territorial development, taking into account local resources, capacities, and specificities—both material and intangible. It brings together international scholars and researchers to discuss strategies for enhancing cultural landscapes, fostering local economies, and promoting inclusive development.

Structured as a workshop, each session combines lectures and guided discussions, encouraging exchange between PhD students from different disciplines and research backgrounds.
