Architecture’s Eco-Humanist Turn - Lecture of Professor Eeva-Liisa Pelkonen

The lecture is centered around the decade following the Second World War when concern for the human condition gave rise to a new intellectual sensibility, ecohumanism, which in turn led to a new awareness on how humans inhabit the earth among architects. Work and words by architects Sverre Fehn, Mies van der Rohe, Richard Neutra, and Rudolf Schwarz will be discussed in tandem with pronouncements by era-defining thinkers such as Hannah Arendt, Ruth Nanda Anshen, Albert Camus, Erich Fromm, Martin Heidegger, and Lewis Mumford.

This lecture is part of the Castello Dialogue Initiative coordinated by Professor Albena Yaneva, Professor Alessandro Armando and Dr Sofia Nannini
