AI-Enhanced Studio 2026 Summer School - Call for Application
An intensive design studio on AI-driven architectural workflows
The AI-Enhanced Studio is an intensive one-week design summer school exploring the integration of artificial intelligence into architectural workflows. This second edition advances the exploration of AI tools in the design process, with a strong focus on professional practice.
Hosted at Castello del Valentino in Turin, the program offers a focused, practice-oriented environment in which participants engage with professional approach to AI-assisted design, addressing the integration of computational tools within real project development.
The studio investigates how it can be systematically embedded within the design process (from early concept generation to iteration, evaluation, and representation) while maintaining full control over their design intentions. Through lectures, workshops, and hands-on experimentation, participants will develop and test AI-enhanced design workflows, working with generative models, large language models, and simulation tools. These technologies are not approached as autonomous generators, but as components within a human-directed process, supporting exploration, comparison of alternatives, and accelerated decision-making.
The program is structured as a competition-style studio, where participants work in teams to develop a proposal for a real site in Turin. Drawing on methodologies derived from professional practice, the studio emphasizes speed, iteration, and precision, while reinforcing the architect’s role in framing problems, setting constraints, and interpreting results.
Faculty
MVRDV Invited Professors
Lorenzo Mattozzi (IT), Associate Architect, has played a key role in leading and coordinating numerous projects at MVRDV’s Asia Studio and DAS Studio since 2017. His interest in new technologies, especially AI, has driven him to explore innovative tools that streamline the architectural design and delivery process, enhancing both efficiency and creativity. He has led projects of various scales and across all phases, with a particular focus on adaptive reuse in recent years.
Fredy Fortich (CO), an Architect and Engineer specializing in computational design, has been pivotal in advancing MVRDV’s integration of artificial intelligence and BIM into architectural practice. Since joining MVRDV, he has served as a Technical Architect and BIM Manager at the French and Asia Studios, contributing his expertise in BIM coordination, performance-based design, generative design, and machine learning methods.
